Penrith Rotary Club 10k Trail Race - Sunday 11th October

A new event took place last weekend –the Penrith Rotary Club with the permission of the Lowther Estates Trust organised a 10K trail run alongside a 4K ‘family fun run’. The trail race consisted of a one-lap course in Lowther Park on grass, farm track and tarmac, starting and finishing at the Lowther Parish Hall in Hackthorpe village. Proceeds from the event will go towards helping to buy wheel chairs via the Wheel Chair Foundation of Great Britain and Ireland.

Five AC members took part in this new race. Martin Sluce testing his knee following surgery in August was our fastest man posting 44:45 for 19th followed by Colin Valentine running 46:17 for 28th. Well done to Jim Downie who took the 1st MV60 prize in 50:02 and to Anne Downie who was 8th placed woman in 53:22.

The men’s race was won by Stuart Robinson in 39:11 and women’s by Border Harrier Clare McKeown, in 43:03.
