Stuc a Chroin, British fell Champs –Saturday 2nd May

This tough 14m/5000’ race in the Trossachs was the venue for the second race and long counter of the British Fell Championship this year on Sauturday. Pippa Jackson (2.23.33) placed well up the field in 49th overall to claim 2nd place in the ladies, behind course record holder Angela Mudge. Dave Spedding showed he is in good fettle by running 2.46.54 to take 2nd MV60 (93rd overall). Well done to the Keswick AC ladies who ran themselves into the British Championship team bronze medal position after this race (championships), again fielding a strong team -a welcome return to the fold for Cathrine Evans who followed Pippa home in 3.24.34 to place 39th lady, followed by Jo Gillyon in 3.25.51 for 41st lady –less than 90 seconds separating the pair after 14miles and 5000’ of running.
