Scottish Islands Race

A friend of mine is competing in this years race ( weekend 16 May ) and requires two experienced runners. This is a tough event with long runs on the islands of Mull, Jura and Arran. Good navigational skills and stamina are essential. More details on the event website www.sipr.zetnet.co.uk.

Having thoroughly enjoyed this event in the past (apart from the pain) I'd have to say this is an incredible event to be part of. Incidently I ran with Dave Ramsey as a last minute sub for Dave Troman. If I was remotely fit I'd be there like a shot!

Great event as Chris says, but don't volunteer unless you are prepared to do some rowing if light winds, and some serious navigation, in the dark, off-tracks. Last time I did it we rowed a 40' yacht around 15 miles on the way down to Jura, & then did the Bens of Jura all in the dark. You'll need a sense of humour.
