Hydration systems

Hi. Does anyone have any experience of using one of those hydration systems built into a bumbag (eg Camelbak Flashflo) as an alternative to carrying drinking bottles (which I hate)? If so, can you recommend one that is light and comfortable, yet has enough storage space for obligatory fell racing equipment (ie waterproofs, map, compass, whistle)?

Cheers

Quentin

I think the need for hydration is over-emphasised, and perhaps dehydration is less important to performance and health than has been suggested in most cases?

It's all very well for you to say that, Steve. You're young, fit and talented!

I've tried all sorts over the years and preferred option for me seems to be good old Pete Bland bumbag with a small bottle or platypus (about 1/2 litre).

If you're going out for a long time and particularly if its hot the little rucksacks are good as you can fit a fair amount in without the uncomfortable bouncing around you get with a bumbag. Plus there's hundreds of them on the market now in various sizes.
