Fell Championships 2009

Further to the below blog, with a slight amendment to the Club Championship format (3 from 4 to count) does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the structure of the Championship?

For example, would the inclusion of a super-long encourage or dissuade members taking part?

The Lakeland Classics is a priority for some people but if one of the long races was included in the CC, would they also participate in that?

By the same logic, the championship could comprise a really short race such as Grasmere Sports, as has been previously suggested, along with short, medium and long...Or a short, two mediums and a long for that matter.

Sorry if this is a bit confusing...

I would go with a real short counter (up to about 3 miles), short/medium counter (5-8miles ish), long medium/short long counter (11-14 miles ish) and a propper long one (17 miles or more).

Something like Grisedale grind/Arnison dash, Glaramara/Blencathra, Anniversary Waltz/Great Lakes run and a lakland classic long race.

Allthough Glaramara at 5 miles is officially a short race, with winning times generally around 50 minutes and a fairly respectable time being 60+ minutes its far from a sprint. I would definately like to see a real short race with more like a 15-25 minute winning time.
