Keswick AC Evening Social

All Keswick AC members are invited to a social/BBQ at the YHA in Longthwaite, Borrowdale chez Chris and Catherine on Tuesday 16th July 2013. There will be a run beforehand starting at 6.30pm, with food and bar from 7.30pm. To book your place at £5 each, please contact me and pay Catherine on the evening. There is a limit of 30 so please book asap.

Buckden Pike English Championships Race -Saturday 15th June

The second race of the English Fell Running Championship season took place yesterday (Sat 15th June) at Buckden Pike in the Yorkshire Dales.

The short race was part of Buckden Gala, and took in 1594' of ascent over a 3.7 mile course that incorporated good sections of steep climbing and descent, and provided plenty of talking points once back down on the showfield.

There was a great turnout from the club (results below). A particularly good performance by the men's team saw them place fourth on the day, and after the first two English Championship races are now tied on points in third in the Team Championship.

A mention should also go to Lyn Thompson for a great performance yesterday. Finishing first LV55, Lyn is now well placed after two races of the English Championships in the lead of the Women's Vet 55 category.

The remaining races this season are as follows (below). Please get entered for the races now -we will need our best possible teams out to stay in the hunt for a bronze medal.

BodyFit 5K Wednesday 26th June 2013 7pm

Keswick AC Championship Race:

The closing date for online and postal entries for the BodyFit 5K is Sunday 23rd June, please enter soon.   104 entries to date.  All proceeds to Cycstic Fibrosis Trust.  Entries on the day are £10, £6 for juniors - save yourself money (and us time) by pre-entering please.  £500 prize fund across all categories.

Wed 12^th June – Cautley Horseshoe

Following the sad demise of the popular Tebay fell race, the inaugural running of the Cautley Horseshoe will take place on Wednesday 12^th June 7pm, organized by Paul Brittleton and supported by Howgill Harriers.

More details including race distance/elevation can be found at http://fellrunner.org.uk/races.php?id=2785.  The map is also attached here, although printed race map and parking is included in the entry fee   It would be great to see as many from your club as possible for this new local event, bearing in mind that the challenging nature of the route may be unsuitable for fell running novices.

Arnison Dash fell race - Sunday, 26 June 2013

Message from race organiser below:

Just a quick email to confirm that the Arnison Dash fell race will be held as part of Ullswater Country Fair on Sunday, 26 June 2013. The start time is 2.00 pm and registration will be open from 1.00 pm (ish!). This is a lovely 2 mile/3 km fell race with about 1000 ft/300 m of climbing ... and some fabulous views of the Ullswater valley if you get chance to stand and stare. There is also lots going on at the Ullswater Country Fair.

Due to a change of email and outstanding incompetence on my part, I failed to get the race info in the printed FRA calendar this year, but I will still be on King George V playing field at Patterdale on Sunday, 26 June with a stop watch and a flagged course. Your club have been amazing in supporting our small race in the past, so we hope to see you on the start line this year.
