Sports Nutrition Talk
On
Wednesday 22nd May Kate Currie, Sports nutritionist, will be back in
the area to deliver another talk on the hot topic of 'Sports Nutrition'.
If you missed out last time Kate delivered a fantastic, informative
talk to a packed house covering lots of key areas and providing lots of
sound advice and tips. Kate doesn't prescribe 'should eat' and 'should
not eat' foods during the talk but instead focusses on the human body
and how it uses the fuel we provide it and how to optimise it. The talk
once again will be at the Quaker Meeting House in Keswick (opposite
Booths).
£10 - Pay on the night (Get there early as it was busy last time)
7PM Start (1.5 - 2 hrs)
If you wish to optimise your performance then the way you fuel your body is very important. This talk is well worth a visit.
Overview:
The
human body reacts in a very specific way to sport and exercise.
Understanding the body’s reaction to exercise is critical in order to
provide the correct nutrients at the correct time so that the body
achieves optimal performance and recovery - improving in the most
efficient way.
In this seminar, I shall explain the changes that occur to the body both during exercise and after exercise. I shall explain what should be eaten when and why. The seminar will also tie in some important healthy eating principles to support the human body in a more fundamental and broad perspective. My approach will be to give every member of the audience an understanding of life from the human body’s “point-of-view”, with reasons why certain nutritional choices are important; principally to get a strong and lean body that performs optimally in activity, but also and so that each person can, at the same time, begin to reduce their risks of developing many age-related diseases and disorders.
The
speaker Kate Currie is a Registered Nutritionist, with an Honours
Degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from The University of
Durham, a Postgraduate Diploma in Nutritional Medicine from The
University of Surrey and a Master of Sciences Degree in Nutrition and
Food Science from The University of Reading, which was gained with
Distinction. Kate currently works as a Nutritionist at the University of
Reading.
