The Three Peaks - Sat 27th April - 24m 5,700'

Great results for Keswick with Carl taking second place overall and Dave Prosser winning the trophy for 1st V50.

The day started cold with snow falling on the Penyghent summit plateau but warmed up in the sunshine. Fantastic organisation and support around the epic 24mile course. Great battle up front with Carl putting in one of his customary class descents to overhaul some top opposition.

3. Karl Gray - Calder Valley - 2:59:50

Round The Houses 10K

Great team photo taken at Round The Houses on the front page of today's Lake District Herald (Keswick and Lake District edition). Even with several members missing from the photo it is an impressive group shot. Nearly 1 in 4 runners in the race were from the club.

Coledale Horseshoe

There was a great turnout from Keswick at the Coledale Horseshoe on April 6th, with some impressive runs, notably from Carl winning the race outright and Catherine coming second for the ladies.

The route was revised because of the snow on some parts making the going a bit treacherous. The new route took a bypass around Eel crag and Sail top, heading up High Moss from the track. It ended up around 1.3km shorter but added around 100m extra climbing.
The ladies won the team prize. Were there any other prizes that I don't know about?
Here’s a bit from Chris Knowles’ report, which is up on the CFR website:
Carl Bell took an early lead out of the village and through to the start of the first major climb of Grisdale Pike, with Rob Jebb close behind. On the climb up to Grisdale summit saw Rob pull away from Carl and Rhys Findley Robinson by some 60 seconds, however this changed through Coledale Hause and at Force Crag mine check with Robs lead reduced to some 20 seconds up on Carl with Rhys holding a comfortable 3rd position, this remained the same at the Stoneycroft Gill track check point before Carl closed the gap and passed Rob by Barrow Top to take the win in 1.04.58 with Rob second and Rhys third.
I was still slogging around at this point so was oblivious!
It was a great race with good atmosphere and lots of cakes afterwards. Thanks to marshals, Ellenborough organizers and food providers!
Keswick results below, I hope I’ve got everyone.
